Ken Barry

Ken has over 35 years of experience in business, both from a technical and human resource perspective. He has been part of a team that built the largest petrochemical plant in North America with a self-directed, work team culture. He is a participative, results oriented coach that values teamwork and partnering with the leaders of an organization to create engaging cultures that empower people and teams to achieve outstanding personal and business results. He has been a member of several Executive Management teams in high tech, aerospace, consumer products, internet and semi-conductor companies.

During the past sixteen years he has worked with C level and senior leaders assisting them to clarify their purpose. vision and plans to demonstrate that People are the most valuable organizational asset. His coaching style is a coaching from behind style which asks leaders what they want to be – then helps them to get there. His clients appreciate his supportive, caring, and results oriented approach to coaching which enables leaders to achieve their development goals in work and life.

Ken’s expertise in individual, team and organizational development systems coupled with his facilitative team building skills have assisted people and organizations to achieve extra ordinary goals.

Most recently he was Senior Vice President Global Human Resources for Semtech, a global semi-conductor company in 25 countries that implemented a results-oriented, values based leadership culture which increased revenue by 3X and operating profit 4X.

Prior to Semtech, Ken has been in executive human resource roles at Move Inc. (Realtor.com), Boeing/ Hughes Satellite Systems, Harman International and Northern Telecom where he introduced innovative reward and coaching management processes that built engaging cultures which eliminated traditional performance appraisal programs.

Background

Ken has a Master’s degree in Organization Development from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Economics from the University of Western Ontario in Canada.

Ken is a certified Coach who trained at the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara and taught in their coaching program.

Ken is a certified Director for Boards having trained at the UCLA Anderson School of Management Directors program. Over his career, he has participated in four public boards in compensation and ethics committees.

Ken was chosen the TOP Senior Human Resource Executive for southern California by SHRM / PIHRA

Ken lives in southern California with his wife and two golden retrievers. When not coaching, he and his wife travel the world to experience new cultures in such places as New Zealand, Maui and Europe.
