He’s spent nearly a decade helping leaders and teams build stronger connections through his time as an HR Manager, ICF-PCC coach, and facilitator. Elijah is an amazing coach; he offers the perfect blend of support and perspective. I didn't even have awareness that I was low EQ until our first sessions, but now I'm aware not only of my limits but how others are feeling. I can predict and suss out conversations that are likely to be both emotional and high-stakes, and can prepare and adapt to those conversations in real time. Years ago, a mentor told me “code is the easiest part of our job.” Elijah helped me build a toolbox to navigate the rest of it.
Elijah made every hour insightful and forward thinking to challenge me to be the best version of myself every day for my program. He asked insightful questions and pushed me to think outside of my comfort zones for substantial growth. Elijah also coached me through how to advocate for myself and ask for what I needed for growth.
As a new frontline manager with 0 managerial experience before, I felt overwhelmed with managing my team, setting expectations and balancing my time. Elijah was able to coach me on how to set myself boundaries and change my perspective so I could be the inspirational leader I wanted to be. He taught me how to slow down to speed up and to be more intentional and efficient with my time and energy. He helped me develop systems and to mentor and teach my team to engage and teach themselves, which only makes being a frontline less stressful!
My time with Elijah opened my eyes to many things I was overlooking. Talking through things gave me clarity and awareness that I didn’t know I was lacking. He has a remarkable way of leading the conversation to deep understanding. I was able to correlate actions to underlying causation. We worked on establishing healthy boundaries and started a journey of self-compassion. Going into this engagement I discounted its value for someone with as much tenure as I have and as a mentor myself. I was pleasantly surprised at how valuable it became.
Elijah consistently provided an effective and supportive space for reflection. He did an amazing job of building rapport and creating a relationship-forward space where I could really bring my full self and feel supported and accepted. Elijah finds a phenomenal balance between asking incisive questions, making really helpful observations, and pushing my thinking through offering perspective and reframes. He was able to effectively move with me from high level mindset work to really tactical questions as needed to address challenging areas and work toward my goals. He also was really effective at helping me elevate and identify my values, and to figure out how to center them through my decision-making and actions. With Elijah's support, I was not only able to grow my leadership skills, but I was better able to find and connect with my own identity as a leader as well.
